Cruelty Full to Cruelty Free: Shampoo and Conditioner Edition
Hey Everyone! I love shopping, makeup, and hair products. My husband will tell you that I partake of these fun things often. 😉
That’s why I thought it would be fabulous to share my cruelty free makeup, beauty, hair, and glam finds with all of you as a weekly feature on my blog!
I promise that MY beauty finds will always be (to the best of my knowledge:)
- Cruelty free (no animal testing or animal by-products)
- Not tested on animals when sold in the US
- Something that I have absolutely, unequivocally used/tried myself
- Have the leaping bunny approval from PETA or similar organizations. In lieu of that I will find research that certifies a cruelty free company position
- A product that I have reviewed on Influenster, so check me out there too!
Also, I’m renaming the series! So here’s the 4th installment of my newish feature: Cruelty Full to Cruelty Free!
My hair has always been long, curly, thick, and honestly, not for the faint of heart. About a year ago, I started searching for cruelty free shampoo and conditioners to try because obviously I know that animal testing is a ridiculous practice that is both, cruel and unnecessary.
Once you expand to really focus on finding cruelty free items, you usually find things that are truly all natural, organic, contain certified Vegan ingredients, no harsh chemicals, minimal dyes and many other scenarios that prove to be healthier than your run of the mill Pantene Pro-V or Dove stuff.
There are 2 things that are important to me when I shop for Shampoo and Conditioner: Color Protection (because dying my hair isn’t cheap,) and lots of extra moisturizing, especially from the Conditioner. I’m looking for a thick, rich, creamy formula that may even be hard to wash out completely because it’s so DAMN moisturizing!
After a few months of using this combo on a weekly basis, my hair has never been healthier!
A few months in to this healthier hair foray, my sister introduced me to Shea Moisture and I have never looked back! Again, they have an extensive product line but my 1st experience with them was Shampoo and Conditioner.
Shea Moisture has a wonderful color protection line called Sea Kelp and Pearl Protein Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner. I’ve only used the Conditioner because my hair products never seem to finish at the same time. LOL
I’ve since added the Shea Moisture Peace Rose Oil Complex Nourish and Silken Shampoo and I have NOT been disappointed!
Finally, the main event! Getting my Old Spice addicted husband to switch to a cruelty free brand that he could live with. After much deliberation and way too much smelling in the toiletry aisle at Sprouts Farmers Market, he chose Nature’s Gate Jojoba Sacred Lotus Shampoo and Conditioner. He loves it and I love that he’s using it, so that’s a win-win!
Here’s a few things to note about ALL of these brands:
1.) They are all reasonably priced for the size and quality that you are getting. $8 and up a bottle depending on what you purchase.
3.) These brands have ALWAYS been (to the best of my research) Vegan and Cruelty Free. They didn’t do it simply because it was on trend or to tap into a market. They SET a trend of products that are better for you, the environment, and animals!
